Just as there are lots of types of food venue there is also a wide range of menu holders. From menu chalkboards, wooden menu holders and even light up LED menu holders there is a huge choice but again the traditional plastic or acrylic menu holder remains the #1 choice – for many good reasons.
Cost is certainly one reason for the choice. The menu holders often cost pennies so they are cheap to buy and cheap to replace, Practicality is another factor – they are easy to clean and (post-Covid) easier to sanitise than some other materials.
Range is another factor. From single facings to six facings, from single sided to double sided there is a menu holder to suit – and a size too as most menu holders are made to fit standard print sizes, particularly DL (1/3 A4), A5 and A4 menus.
Alternatively a menu card holder is a base into which the menu is inserted and which holds it upright. It does not protect the print like a menu holder but for thicker printed menus it is really handy. These also come in different widths to support different print sizes.
Beware cheap imitation menu holders
Not all menu holders are born – or made – equal. Buying poor quality menu stands and holders is neither a sustainable option nor a smart financial one. Let’s face it most menu holders are subject to a lot of wear & tear and poor quality ones are liable to be easily damaged, break or become misted or scratched, and will need replacing.
