Portsmouth College ran a poll to find the city’s local hero. Polling took place on 14th November at the city’s Gunwharf Quays shopping centre.

Our lightweight flat-pack easy-to-assemble polling booth proved the ideal for the event. The four compartment design ensured it could handle large volume of voters, and each voter could make their choice in complete privacy, and with the knowledge that the booth is easily cleaned and sanitised. The booths are also fully accessible.

Innovative Polling Booth Design

Public anxiety about forthcoming elections at the height of Covid was the driver for our innovative design that saw us develop a lightweight easily assembled both manufactured from foamex PVC that is easy to clean and sanitise. The booths can be dissembled and stored flat between uses.

The easy assemble flat pack booth was developed during Covid to offer an easy to assemble, easy to sanitise alternative to the current range of voting booths, ahead of planned local elections in the UK. The aim was to boost voter confidence, as well as provide a low cost option for local authorities.

The polling booth offers both protection and privacy for the voter. Made from white foam PVC it is constructed from two panels that are simply locked into place by the one-piece shelf that provides a sturdy surface for marking the ballot paper.

This freestanding four compartment booth is more cost-effective than single booth alternatives. It maximises voter flow especially where space is limited. If required Social distancing can be maintained either by using only two of the four compartments, or by user management in the polling area. Unlike traditional multi-part booths these voting booths are easier to clean.

Since it’s launch we have sold 1000s of booths in the UK and Europe – they are used in everything from National General elections to elections at universities and colleges, as well as events and launches.

We were asked to manufacture and supply Pick N Mix sweet dispensers for their latest store opening, in lovely Barnstaple in sunny Devon. In total we supplied over 200 gravity feed dispensers for Pick N Mix

By opting to use Wrights GPX POS SoSweet showed their commitment to UK manufacturing.

Used to store Pick N Mix favourites such as fizzy cola bottles, cherry lips, fried eggs, shrimps and flying saucers the dispensers needed to be robust enough to withstand the hungry public, safe enough for little hands and easy to clean, maintain and sanitise, and our product ticked all these boxes.

SoSweet’s first contact with Wrights Plastics was with our digital display brand Mid West Displays who have supplied digital advertising screens to several SoSweet branches. The success of those projects lead to Director Tony Robinson asking them to supply dispensers for their new store – which is where our involvement started.
