Barbeque up some hot sales this summer

Burgers on a BBQOK, its seems a little ambitious given what feels like the longest winter ever but retailers need to be optimists if nothing else and now is the time to look ahead for a long hot summer of long hot sales. Of course, effective POS display can help turn sales hot, hot, hot.

According to research specialists TNS BMRB 18.5m adults in the UK who have a barbecue at home (that sounds like a crowded party) and there is even better news: Allied Bakeries category director Guy Shepherd says convenience stores are better placed than the multiples to make the most of the barbecue season - something we have the weather to thank for. “The frequent fluctuations in the British weather mean that barbecues can often be an impromptu decision, with consumers involved in a last-minute rush for rolls and meat products,” he says. “Convenience stores have a great opportunity to capitalise 
on this by stocking everything consumers need.”

There are plenty of opportunities for the smart retailer to be best placed to take advantage of those sunny days. Of course, they will need to know what’s hot and what’s not when it comes to food, sauces, drinks etc (will burgers be quiet so popular this year?), and they will have to make the most of their retailing experience to develop some great communications and eye-catching point of sale.
