Sarah’s 25 years with Wrights Plastics

Sarah celebrates 25 years with Wrights PlasticsWrights Plastics were delighted recently to recognise the long and outstanding service of accounts all-rounder Sarah Norton.
Sarah joined Wrights Plastics in May 1990 and has seen the company develop over her 25 years (so far) with us. Not only has she seen us move from Willenhall where she started with us to larger premises in West Bromwich in 1997 she has also witnessed growth that has seen the company double in size since she started.
The omens were always good, Sarah believes. When she was told she was being made redundant on Tues, her first boss suggested she speak to the company who had relocated into premises where she originally worked. Interviewed on Thurs, she started work the very next day – back where she started her working life and with a company she would be with for the next quarter of a century.
When she joined the company was smaller and Sarah sometimes misses the job roles were more flexible. “In some ways, I miss the closeness of the early days as many of the team got involved in many different areas of the business and everyone knew everyone else. But the growth has been brilliant. The company’s financial stability has ensured it survived recessions and downturns – and I hope I have contributed to that.” When she started Sarah had sole responsibility for day-to-day financial aspects at Wrights Plastics as invoicing, purchase ledger and wages. Today she oversees a team of four.
When Sarah and husband Rob decided to start a family, there was no-one who could replace Sarah so we set up a computer and phone at her home so she could continue to work for us – no long maternity leave for her. But she has also benefitted from the flexibility the company is able to offer – allowing her to continue with her career while also raising a family. “Wrights Plastics remains a family run business and I think that means they understand the importance of family perhaps more than other organisations.”
As recognition of her 25 year service, the company presented her with a travel voucher and for Sarah the timing was perfect as it allowed her family to fulfil a long-planned trip to Dubai. Sarah explains “Our son Sean wanted to go to Dubai for his 18th and by the time our plans came together I had received this holiday voucher from the company. It meant the whole family could enjoy a very special time together. In fact, we’d love to go again.”
Wrights Plastics MD Mike Wright said “Amazingly, Sarah has worked with three generations of our family. She has shown dedication and commitment to the business and we were so pleased that our recognition of her long service meant the whole family could enjoy an unforgettable time together.”
