As a responsible and ethical point of sale manufacturer we take a pro-active approach to ensuring an ethical supply chain, and our commitment has led to our membership of SEDEX. Who are they? Sedex is a not for profit membership organisation that is dedicated to driving improvements in ethical and responsible business practices in global supply chains.
SEDEX has two main aims:
- to ease the burden on suppliers facing multiple audits, questionnaires and certifications
- to drive improvements in the ethical performance of global supply chains
SEDEX is the largest collaborative platform and it allows members to sharing information across supply chains to make sure companies are working with partners who have show an ethical commitment in four key areas: Labour standards, Health & Safety, the environment and business ethics. Sedex provides an innovative and effective supply chain management solution, helping businesses to reduce risk, protect their company reputation and improve supply chain practices.
In less than a decade since launch, over 25,000 organisations from over 150 countries have made Sedex their platform of choice for exchanging ethical supply chain data.
As a leading UK POS manufacturer we work with many clients to develop high quality and effective retail displays, and our commitment to SEDEX means they can receive assurance about our commitments to the four areas noted above. This has helped us work with some of the leading retailers and design agencies – and that means more investment locally and ensuring we can continue to employ skilled and committed people locally.
In a successful attempt to reduce repetition and duplication SEDEX have developed SMETA. It was developed in response to member demand for an ethical audit report format that could more easily be shared. Although SMETA is not a code of conduct, a new methodology, or a certification process, it describes an audit procedure which is a compilation of good practice in ethical audit techniques. The documents are designed to be used in conjunction with current established practices by experienced auditors to help them to conduct high quality audits that will be accepted by multiple retailers and brands.
Our involvement with SEDEX is part of our overall commitment to trading ethically, and you can find out lots more at their website http://www.sedexglobal.com.
